Notes: The
Seahawks earned the distinction of the team with the lowest average
PossessionPoints to make the playoffs. Their 82.4 PossessionPoints
per game placed them 21 out of 32 teams. Their game against the Rams
in week 10 was the only one that went against the "90%
net effect". A punt return for a touchdown for Seattle accounts
for how they "beat the stat" in this case. (As you probably know by
now special teams and defensive points don't figure in to
PossessionPoints). As for their playoff performance, they had an
negative net effect in both their games and won one and lost won.
All football fans probably remember the Cowboys bobbled hold attempt
(was the ball slick, who knows, we won't get into it).
Looking forward to 2007 the Seahawks need to pick it up on the
Offensive side of the ball. They traded their number 1 pick for WR
Dion Branch, if he returns to his form of a few years ago this would
help. But other than that the Seahawks didn't seem to make the
offense a priority. They drafted a cornerback and two defensive
lineman with their next two picks. From a PossessionPoints viewpoint
this is not the direction we would have gone.
