Notes: A tale of two seasons could best describe the
Tennessee Titans of 2006-- both in their win-loss record and in
their PossessionPoints totals. Early in the season, their chart was
bled red all over, and they had a lot of losses to show for it.
Later in the season they were turning in "green" and "yellow"
performances and were being rewarded with wins. Their season-long
average of 74.63 gave them an NFL ranking of 24 out of
32 teams, so there is still plenty of room for improvement on that
side of the ball. Their defensive number of 117.03 PossessionPoints
allowed was the second worst in the NFL, so improvement is needed
there also.
Looking forward to 2007, the Titans needed to address both offense
and defense. The offense should be helped by the fact that Vince
Young has more experience and both the offense and defense will have
confidence that he will help them in tight games. Their draft
selections attempted to address both areas as the Titans picked both
offensive and defensive players. Will they play like they did in the
second half of 2006 and make the playoffs in 2007? We aren't sure,
but like several other teams we will be watching their early games
very closely. If they turn in some all "green" performances they
could be in the playoff hunt.
