2008 Season - PossessionPoints Performance Rankings
The 2008 Season Page presents a table with the teams
Ranked by Offensive Performance. However, we find that net is a better measure of
the overall team's performance. In 2006, the best offensive team was the Colts who finished
12-4; the best PossessionPoints defense was the Ravens who finished 13-3; and
the best net team was the Chargers who finished 14-2. The 2007 final regular
season performance rankings are every bit as interesting as the 2006. Eleven of
the top 14 teams were playoff teams including all of the top 5. In 2007 the top Performance Ranking team was the Patriots who went 16-0, they
were also the top offensive team. In addition 8 of the top 9 Performance Ranking
teams made the playoffs, all of the teams in the conference championship and
Super Bowl games were in the top 9. Remember as you look
over this table there is no subjectivity, this table if based solely on our in
game PossessionPoints statistic. Now that 2008 has ended we have two 2008 end of
season charts (one with highlights of playoff performance) as well as the chart
after 2 weeks of playoffs, so for example the Giants ended the season at #2 but
fell to #5 after their loss to the Eagles.

The table below is the ranking by defense. It is
important to note that when looking at these rankings you need to be aware of
how they relate to the team's future schedule.
